This book focuses on the management of chronic wounds, as well as wound dressings and healing in general. The first part describes the science and pathophysiology of chronic wounds and the current therapies, cellular/acellular and genetic engineering biotechnology. In the second part, on wound dressings, it presents an overview of the current methods and their effectiveness, which is assessed e.g. by using a silicone sheet. The third and last part addresses the normal mechanism of wound healing, but also provides information on the mathematical mechanism and novel therapies to facilitate wound healing, for example with lasers or stem cells. As such, the book offers a valuable resource for plastic surgeons, and for all clinicians interested in wound treatment.
