Natural Standard was founded by healthcare providers and researchers from Harvard Medical School, Partners Healthcare and The University of California to provide high-quality, evidence-based information about complementary and alternative medicine including dietary supplements and integrative therapies. Grades reflect the level of available scientific data for or against the use of each therapy for a specific medical condition. The Natural Standard Research Collaboration is neither for nor against the use of these therapies. Natural Standard addresses patient use of natural medicines by offering clinical decision support to healthcare providers. Before Natural Standard, there was inadequate centralized monitoring of quality, safety, or effectiveness, of natural products despite known side effects and interactions.
